Kendriya Vidyalaya SPS Jyotipuram J&K is one of the 931 Kendriya Vidyalayas all over the country, including two abroad – one in Moscow and the other in Kathmandu. The Scheme of the Kendriya Vidyalayas came into existence in 1963 to provide uninterrupted education to the wards of the Central Government employees who move from one linguistic area to another.

On the recommendation of 2nd Central Pay Commission in 1962 to provide common education with common syllabus and curriculum to the children of transferable Central Government employees including defence personnel, the Ministry of Education, Government of India took over 25 regimental schools run by defence establishment and converted into Central schools in 1963. Later on these Central School were rechristened as Kendriya Vidyalayas and as on today near about 900 Kendriya Vidyalayas through the breadth and length of our country meet the needs of a common education to the children of transferable Central Government Employees defence and project personnel. This phenomenal growth of KV is due to its popularity and rapid stride in all key areas of present (day education reforms and has come to be recognized as pivotal institutions striving to raise the quality of education at the school level. K. V.’s. have improved there infra-structure facilities and education in all its sphere so much that today no educational organization is there in competition.
